I originally purchased this to have a larger magnifier to mount on my soldering station for electronics work. However, when this was delivered yesterday and I checked it out, I went right back on Amazon and ordered another one to use for myself for reading small print. The first thing I did was *tighten the handle and clean the glass. I found the lens to be flawless. I found no imperfections at all in the glass. There was virtually no distortion when viewing edge to edge, and the glass is crystal clear. I have other glasses, the strongest is 3-1/2 inches and is a claimed 3X. This one is claimed to be 3X. This one is much more powerful. So either my 3-1/2 is overrated or this one is underrated. Probably about the most difficult challenge is to read the text that is molded into the plastic transformers for cordless phones and such. I believe that the makers of these things did not ever intend for them to be read. Well, with this glass I can read them very clearly.In some of the reviews people spoke of the glass falling out or the *handle feeling loose. I found this can be true. But when I tightened up the handle, it felt very sturdy. I had some quick set epoxy so I mixed up a little and put a little dab on the handle threads and about 4 places on the glass edge. Then tightened the handle. I did this because I had the epoxy and it only took 5 minutes. Was this necessary? I don't believe so. A magnifying glass is not going to be in constant or hard use like a tool. And this Magnifier is the best one I've ever used. So even if I did a minor tweak, I know I'll have this the rest of my life. And because of the great quality, it was a non-issue. It's funny that a person can get so passionate about a magnifying glass, but there is so much junk out there, when I find something really good, I want people to know about it. Same if something is really bad, I'm going to let people know. I'll put a link below to the worst one to ever exist. Another positive, I bought this from "Jacks Tool Shed". It came in a retail box by the brand "Hawk model #MG 8779". This is the # that is in the description. So I have confidence in this seller. Thanks for reading this exhausting review.
